“Step out of your comfort zone.”
I’ve heard this many times throughout my career as a musician, but no matter how many times I’ve “stepped out” I still get the feeling of being nervous, unsure, and not confident. ⠀
Well, here I am putting a stake in the ground proclaiming myself as a photographer. My first obstacle: the selfie. As a person who has always struggled with how they look, here’s to stepping out onto the stage, taking a deep breath, and being me. ⠀
I didn’t want to take a selfie, but with me being the one who is usually behind the lens in any given situation, I didn’t really have any of myself. So, I grabbed a shirt from my closet, set the camera on a tripod that stood on a desk, set up an iPad mini as a wireless monitor/remote shutter to my OM-D E-M10ii, sat down in frontIf the camera in my bedroom, and clicked away. I had never done this before! Being the “model” was definitely weird, but it actually made me feel better on how to pose others since I now have the experience of going through it.
I foresee more selfies in my future as I get better on my journey as a photographer. In the meantime, here are more images from my “photoshoot”.
